A primary care doctor can help you time your treatments to achieve full recovery or manage a chronic condition. If you need a specialist, the primary care network that VHA helped develop is designed to get you the care you need.
The Right Place
The VHA provider network is referred to as a Clinically Integrated Network. For some medical matters, your primary care provider will assist you. For more specialized care or surgery, you will be connected with the network facilities and doctors you need.

If you have a primary care doctor, you are less likely to require emergency room visits, which cost ten times more per visit. Having a regular primary care doctor saves you money, and ensures you are utilizing the healthcare system properly.
