The Valley Health Alliance, as a not-for-profit organization, subsidized the training and certification of 33 health coaches in the Roaring Fork Valley working with Cooper Institute in 2015. These individuals are employed by local physician groups, health clubs, hospitals, employers, mental health, suicide prevention and substance abuse programs serving the Roaring Fork community. The VHA intended to promote a standard of practice, credibility and quality in working with the renown Cooper Institute to certify local health coaches to improve access to care and behavior change thereby enhancing the health and wellbeing of residents within the valley. In 2016, VHA employers launched the free VHA Health Coaching Program dedicated to VHA members and their families working with Whole Health, LLC,* the virtual home for the VHA health coaching platform and an organization designed to ensure the protection, privacy and confidentiality of all coaching clients and their personal health information. Ms. Schueth holds a BS in Biology from the University of Mississippi and a BS in Nursing from Regis University. She is a Cooper Institute certified Health and Wellness Coach, and also completed the Wellcoaches Health and Wellness coach trainings in Boston and Vancouver. She has previously worked with the late Tom Anderson at Pomeroy Sports– the beloved, family-owned ski shop right across from the gondola. After finishing nursing school, she remained in Denver in order to gain experience while researching other ways she could impact patients prior to hospitalizations. She found health coaching through researching how she could influence primary care instead of tertiary care.
Ms. Schueth believes that Health Coaching is a “non-judgmental, creative and thought-provoking process that inspires and supports a client to maximize their personal and professional potential. We want to inspire and empower the clients and help them connect the dots between where they are now to where they want to be. We help them brainstorm to create the incremental behavioral steps that will enable them to succeed in their desired changes, leading to a higher level of health and well-being. A coach is a partner in a client’s journey to reach their visions and goals.”
Ms. Schueth enjoys being outdoors and loves skiing, hiking, running, playing softball, traveling, cooking and being with dear friends. She would like to continue learning to fly-fish. She is also an avid Ole Miss College football fan
